Four of our SARDA handlers along with team members as navigators were called to assist Exmoor SRT in a search for a 83 year old Alzheimer male, located safe and well by Exmoor SRT members
23 NOVEMBER 09 (41)
The team were called at 12.30 to assist Police in their search for a despondent male who was believed to be in the woodland surrounding Burrator reservoir. Team Land Rovers were used to search forest and moorland tracks in an attempt to locate the missing person’s vehicle which had been in the area early that day. As the search was being wound down in mid afternoon the man was located collapsed within the vehicle on Yelverton aerodrome.

Three of our SARDA handlers were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a despondent 59 year old male, they were stood down on route when the man was located by Police.

Four of our SARDA handlers were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a despondent 45 year old male, located by Police.

Three of DSRT Tavistocks SARDA dogs were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a 10 year old boy, they were stood down on route when he was located by Police

On Sunday 11th October DSRT Tavistock were called just after 10 a.m. to assist DSRT Ashburton in the search for two 20 year old men, missing overnight on Dartmoor.
In poor weather conditions and bad visibility 24 of our members, including four of our SARDA dog teams plus another from Cornwall SAR searched from Princetown southwards into central Southern Dartmoor.
The search ended when the missing people were located, in mid afternoon, near New Waste not far from Cornwood.

Four of our SARDA handlers and two team members as navigators were called to assist Dartmoor SRT Ashburton in a search for a despondent 46 year old female, located safe and well by Police.
28 SEPTEMBER 09 (35)
The team was called out at 20.45 to search for four sixteen year old lads, overdue on Duke of Edinburgh’s expedition between Soussons Forest and Whiteworks. Missing youngsters were located as Team were preparing to deploy.
27 SEPTEMBER 09 (34)
The Team were called by Devon & Cornwall Police, just before 9p.m. to assist West Country Ambulance personnel in locating and recovering an injured horse rider in dense woodland near Bere Alston. The casualty was located by a Police air-scenting search dog and treated by a Paramedic. As access was difficult due to the narrow and steep tracks team members had to carry the casualty on a stretcher some distance to the four wheel drive ambulance. The incident lasted two hours and was another example of good teamwork involving DSRT(Tavistock), Devon & Cornwall Police and West Country Ambulance.
01 SEPTEMBER 09 (33)
The team were called out at 2.15am by Police to search for a missing 51 year old woman in the Postbridge area of Dartmoor. A large area of moorland and farmland had to be searched, which called for all of the teams available resources to be deployed.
DSRT Tavistock deployed several foot teams and a hasty team. Also deployed were a total of five search dog handlers, two from DSRT Tavistock, one from Cornwall SAR, one from DSRT Plymouth and one from D&C Police. These were later joined by colleagues from DSRT Ashburton.
The missing woman was eventually found cold but well at around 7am and she was taken to hospital to be checked over. All in all a good result and excellent team work from all the different organisations involved.

The teams five SARDA handlers and team members as navigators were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a 61 year old female with dementia. The lady was found cold and wet but in good general health by the dog team. (Search Dog Max).

The teams five SARDA handlers were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for 6 walkers benighted in the mist, located safe and well by CSRT members

Our SARDA handlers were called to assist Dartmoor SRT Ashburton in a search for 3 males after their boat capsized, 2 were located by RNLI lifeboat, evacuated to hospital with hypothermia.
Search Dog Cavos with Nicki were taken out on the river in a RNLI lifeboat and Cavos indicated by a small boat, Police Underwater Search Team recovered the body at that location http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/8179493.stm

Four of our SARDA handlers with team members as navigators were called to assist Dartmoor SRT Plymouth in a search for a 25 year old despondent female, who was located by Police at 03.45am.

The team were called by the Police at 10.30 p.m. to search for a group of five girls, who had become lost in bad weather in the middle of Southern Dartmoor. It was reported that they had been undertaking a D of E expedition but had telephoned for help when they could continue no further.
Tavistock and Plymouth teams worked together, searching southwards from Princetown using foot teams, SARDA dog teams and a hasty running team. Ashburton team began the search northwards from Shipley Bridge.
After heavy rain all day the river levels were high and with poor visibility the search conditions were difficult.
The missing youngsters were located by the hasty running team near Red Lake tip just before 2 a.m. and assisted to Team vehicles to recover them from the Moor. This incident lasted for six hours, the last team members returning at 4.30 a.m.

At approximately 2.45 am the team and four of our dog handlers and search dogs were called upon to search for a missing 61 year despondent man in the area around Yelverton and Dousland. Searching of the two villages and surrounding moorland continued until approximately 7am when the team was stood down with the man still missing. Police are continuing their enquiries.

At just before midnight the team were called by Devon and Cornwall Police to help locate a missing despondent woman in the Crapstone area. Just as team members were being deployed, they woman was located safe and well .

All five of Tavistocks SARDA handlers and team members as navigators were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a 84 year old male with Alzheimer’s missing from home, he was spotted by a member of the public in a field and advised Cornwall SRT members, MCA landrover evacuated him to the road and Ambulance to him to hospital with cut to his head.

Three of Tavistock Teams SARDA handlers and team members attending a SARDA training weekend in South Wales were called to assist SARDA South Wales in a search for a 74 year old male with dementia missing from home, stood down before being deployed.

One of our SARDA dogs was called to assist Dartmoor SRT Ashburton in a continuation of the overnight search, the man was located safe and well by Police helicopter after some clothing was found in the river by Exmoor SRT Search Dog Rusty, and the helicopter was tasked to search area further down the river

DSRT Tavistock’s SARDA handlers were called to assist DSRT Ashburton in a search for a 7 year old boy reported missing after playing with friends, located safe and well by members of DSRT Ashburton.

On of the teams SARDA Dog handlers along with two team members as navigators were called to assist Devon and Cornwall Police and Ashburton team in the search for an 88 year old female missing from home.
Happily the woman was located safe and well.

The Team was called out at 2100hrs to assist in a search for a despondent female in the Princetown area. As search resources arrived on scene she was located safe and well by Police.
30 APRIL 09 (13)
One of DSRT Tavistocks SARDA handlers and Search dog Indie, along with a team member as navigator were called to assist Dartmoor SRT Ashburton in a search for a 42 year old despondent male in the Cold East Cross area. Following a search of moorland and a river they were stood down with nothing found. The male was located the next day in the South Hams area.

At 3:36pm this afternoon, the team was called to assist colleagues from Okehampton in locating a missing female in the Sourton area. Team members, including three Search Dog teams, were deployed to the Corn Ridge and Shelstone Tor area.
At 5:30pm information was relayed to the Search Managers suggesting the missing person was outside the search area. The team was subsequently stood down, while the Police followed up the new leads.

At 06:55 this morning the team along with one of our SARDA Dog handlers was called out to assist Okehampton team in the search for a missing man in Brandis Corner. The team were stood down on arrival at the search area with the man having been located safe and well.

One of the teams SARDA dogs was called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a man who became lost on Bodmin Moor when the mist came down. The man later spotted a farmhouse when the mist lifted a little and found help.

At 01:15am three of the teams SARDA dog handlers along with team members as navigators were called out to assist DSRT Okehampton in the search for a missing 68 year old man in Newton St Cyres. The body of the man was found by members of DSRT Okehampton after approximately two hours of searching in fields around the village.
Also present were SARDA Dog handlers from Cornwall SRT, Exmoor SRT, and foot team members from DSRT Ashburton.
Specialist Swift Water Rescue Technicians from Tavistock and DSRT Okehampton helped in the recovery of the mans body.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family.

As a continuation of search 06 below, at 11.15am the team plus four of our SARDA dog handlers were called to assist Cornwall SRT in the search for a missing male in the Temple area of Bodmin Moor. We were stood down at 15.40pm after the Police received new information.

Our SARDA dogs were called and asked to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a despondent male missing from home. They were stood down before leaving home when he was located.

At 14:00, three of the Teams SARDA dogs were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a 70 year old male missing from home near Camelford, the search terminated when Police enquires discovered that he had left the country.

The Team along with 3 SARDA search dogs and their handlers were called out at 5.30am to assist Cornwall SRT in the search for a missing person, they were stood down shortly after arriving at the RV.
20 JAN 09 (03)
The Team was called out to assist DSRT (ASHBURTON) in the search for a despondent female in the Hennock area on the eastern fringes of Dartmoor. As search resources were deploying the female was located by a Devon and Cornwall Police officer on the edge of the search area.
10 JAN 09 (02)
Late in the evening 4 of the teams search dogs along with team members as navigators were called to assist DSRT (ASHBURTON) in the Newton Abbot area of Devon. They were searching for a missing 70 year old male who had not been seen since earlier in the day and due to the nature of his disappearance there was cause for concern of is welfare. Our handlers searched large amounts of areas before being stood down at 0530hrs with nothing found.

The Team were called out to search for a missing 88yo male who was last seen at a residential home in Tavistock earlier in the day. As Search resources were deploying the misper was located.
