Community

DSRT (TAVISTOCK) not only provides a 24/7 Rescue service but we also assist the community in many ways. Throughout the year we provide rescue cover for numerous events that are held on or around Dartmoor.Examples of some of these include The Abbots Way walk, Ten Tors (see below), The Shelterbox Challenge and The Mount House School Annual walk to name but a few. During these events Team Members are placed at strategic locations around the moor on stand by to assist the public

that are taking part and we provide sweep teams to ensure no one is left behind. We have assisted with the marshalling of these events for a number of years. As part of our ongoing commitment towards educating the local community and youth groups we regularly visit associations such as the WI, Ramblers, Air cadets, Guides, Scouts, Brownies and Cubs to show them our vehicles and equipment. During these talks we give safety information and advise people on what to wear and equipment they should be carrying when they venture onto the moors. These presentations are either held at the group meeting place or they attend our Rescue centre. If you would like Team members to give a talk to your association, then please email us or if you prefer drop the Team a letter. Details of how to contact us are found on the contacts page.
